Martha Evans (1846), daughter of John Evans (c1796) and Susannah Preece (c1802), was baptised 15 Mar 1846 in Bridstow Herefordshire. She married David Nicholas (c1837) of Llanfyllin, Montgomeryshire (Wales) in late 1874 in Toxteth Park in Liverpool, Lancashire. David worked as a Coachman, Lorry Car Driver and Tram Driver. He was born in Llanfyllin, Montgomeryshire according to census records, although his earlier life is somewhat unclear (he may have been known as David Ellis as a young man due to a remarriage; also it's likely he himself was widowed before marrying Martha).
Martha and David lived their married life in Liverpool, Lancashire, in Mozart and Balkau Streets. They had five known children in addition to David's son from a previous marriage, John.
Known children of Martha and David:
Mary Elizabeth Nicholas 1875
Mary Nicholas was born in 1875 in Gateacre, Liverpool Lancashire. She was living at home in Toxteth Park in 1881 and 1891, and it's possible she married Thomas Bowstead in Liverpool in early 1901. Nothing more is known of Mary at this time.
Sarah Ellen Nicholas 1878
Sarah Nicholas was born in Woolton, Liverpool in early 1878 according to census records. At the time of the 1901 census she was working as a servant for the Burns family in Liscard, Cheshire (about 3.5 miles from where her family were living in Toxteth Park). Nothing more is known of Sarah at this time.
Annie Nicholas 1880
Annie Nicholas was born mid-1880 in Aigburth, Liverpool according to census records. In 1881 she was a nine-month-old living with her family in Toxteth Park. Annie does not appear on any later census with her family; no more is known of her at this time.
George Nicholas 1885
George Nicholas was born 05 Aug 1885 and baptised 02 Dec 1885 in St. Cleopas Church, Toxteth Park, according to LDS extracted records. In 1901, at the age of 15, he was working as a Cabin Boy and was living at home with his family. Nothing more is known of George at this time.
Harry Nicholas 1890
Harry Nicholas was born in early 1890 in Liverpool (most likely Toxteth Park) and was living with his family for both the 1891 and 1901 censuses. It's possible that Harry married Gladys Thomas in Toxteth Park in 1918, however nothing more is known about Harry at this time.
